SCCAP is seeking Head Start employees

The South Central Community Action Program (SCCAP) is seeking to fill several positions as a result of receiving a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to expand its Head Start program. 

Early Head Start Education Coordinator

South Central Community Action Program (SCCAP) is seeking an Early Head Start Education Coordinator for their Head Start Program in Bloomington.  SCCAP is a non-profit agency administering programs to low-income families in a 4 county area.

Under supervision of the Director of Head Start, the Early Head Start Education Coordinator is responsible for the planning, the direct implementation, and documentation of the Early Head Start education component.  This position assists in the managing of the Early Head Start program as a whole, with specific responsibilities in the coordination of all aspects of classroom design, curriculum implementation, and supervision and monitoring of the Early Head Start education component.  The Early Head Start Education Coordinator is responsible for meeting or exceeding all federal Early Head Start standards, state licensing regulations, Agency goals, and local grant goals and objectives.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Bachelors or advance degree in any subject and coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education with experience teaching pre-school aged children.  Three to five years relevant work experience that includes supervision or management of early childhood programs.

Bus Driver

South Central Community Action Program (SCCAP) is seeking a Bus Driver for their Head Start Program in Bloomington.  SCCAP is a non-profit agency administering programs to low-income families in a 4 county area.

The Bus Driver under supervision of the Transportation Coordinator is responsible for the safe transporting of children to and from school, health screenings, and field trips.

Minimum requirements: Be able to obtain a CDL driver’s license with a Passenger and School Bus endorsement.  Must have a safe driving record for the past three years.  Must be a minimum of 21 years old.

Lead Teacher

South Central Community Action Program (SCCAP) is seeking two Lead Teachers for their Head Start Program in Bloomington.  SCCAP is a non-profit agency administering programs to low-income families in a 4 county area.

The Lead Teacher under supervision of the Education Coordinator plans and implements a weekly and on going developmentally appropriate plan for a group of three to five year old children with individualized considerations for each child.  Additionally, this position acts as a resource, advisor, and advocate for the parents in the areas of child development, health, education, and community resources.

Minimum requirements: CDA, Early Childhood Associate Degree, Early Childhood B.A./B.S. or a 4-year degree with 6 courses on Early Childhood Education/Development required.  Excellent communication skills.  Experience in Head Start, and bilingual preferred.

Teacher Aide

South Central Community Action Program (SCCAP) is seeking three Teacher Aides for their Head Start Program in Bloomington.  SCCAP is a non-profit agency administering programs to low-income families in a 4 county area.

The Teacher Aide under supervision of the Lead Teacher assists in implementing a developmentally appropriate lessons for a group of three to five year old children and providing quality early childhood experiences.

Minimum requirements: High school diploma, or equivalency with no previous experience; or any equivalent combination of education and training.  Experience in early childcare and bilingual preferred.
